The Source has served Indian River County since 1995, providing Christ centered care for the homeless. Its mission is to present the Gospel to those who are homeless, indigent, or in critical need; to lead them to a saving faith in Jesus Christ; to instill hope and motivation for improving their lives; and to assist them in obtaining the resources necessary to become productive citizens and achieve lasting life recovery.
The Source primarily operates on volunteerism and donated resources. The Heaven Sent Thrift Shoppe provides an additional source of revenue while maintaining a voucher system for the needy. The Source walk-in center provides physical, personal, and spiritual support to men, women, and to families in need. The center offers:
- Daily hot meals and emergency food boxes
- Clothing and personal hygiene products
- Showers, shaving stations, hair cuts
- Laundry exchange program
- Emergency shelter vouchers (as available)
- Temporary and permanent housing solutions
- Cold night shelter
- Medical referrals, emergency prescriptions
- Detox/Rehab program placement
- Employment preparation, job referrals
- Assistance obtaining birth certificates and other legal documents
- Incoming and outgoing mail services
- Guest telephone and message services
- Bible study and discipleship courses
- Biblical counseling, intercessory prayer
- Christian fellowship and mentoring
- Special holiday celebrations
- The 12-steps for Christians recovery program
- Sunday school and worship services
